Our suggestion is that you should also have a fecal egg count done to make sure the dewormers you are using are doing the job of reducing the internal parasite load. Other than some health factors like internal parasites, hair coat amount is largely controlled by day length (amount of light that the horse is exposed to). If you are wanting her to shed faster, adding light at night to give a total light exposure of 14 to 16 hours out of 24 hours will also help move the shedding along. Using artificial light to help a horse shed will not occur overnight. It will take a month or longer to initiate shedding of the hair coat. Finally, since you stated she is "shedding somewhat," regular grooming and an occasional bath will help loosen hairs that will be shed quicker. You might also really work a horse to the point of developing a good sweat to help remove shedding or about-to-be-shed hairs.
