There is a great deal of information on horse fencing available from the county Extension agent or the land-grant college in most states. The fence options have typically been wood, wire, cable, or steel with advantages for different designs. Recently rubber and plastic composites have become more popular because of their durability and low maintenance. Electic fencing also offers low cost, flexible management options. Safety and durability should be the primary concern when selecting fencing materials.
