Pesticide certification training for individuals (private applicators) is available at your county Cooperative Extension office. Certification is good for three years and allows you to purchase and use Restricted Use Pesticides on your property or the property of others without compensation (pay). Check with the Cooperative Extension office to learn when training sessions are offered.

Commercial pesticide applicators must take a licensing and certification test, administered by the Environmental Services Division of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. The certification category needed depends on the type of pest control business in which you work. For more information, see the University of Kentucky Pesticide Safety Education Web site at Pesticide Safety Education Program.
