If I put out more fire ant control product than I'm supposed to, am I doing any harm?

Yes.  Using more fire ant control product than is recommended on the label does more harm than good.

  • Some contact insecticides are repellent to the ants when too much is used, which results in poor fire ant control.
  • Applying more than you are supposed to violates the law.
  • Excessive pesticides can run off and contaminate waterways, including drinking water.
  • Always read the label and apply fire ant control products according to the directions.
