What if I have an allergic reaction to a fire ant sting?

Severity of allergic reaction to a fire ant sting differs among individuals. Most people who are not highly allergic develop welts and pustules. Fire ant stings can be fatal to those who are severely allergic.

Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction:

  • Excessive swelling
  • Itching
  • Shortness of breath
  • Thickening of the tongue
  • Sweating

Seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.
