The toxicant DRC-1339 is a Restricted Use Pesticide that is registered in the United States for the control of nesting herring gulls (Larus argentatus), great black-backed gulls (L. marinus), and ring-billed gulls (L. delawarensis). Its use is limited to coastal areas where high gull populations are conflicting with less-abundant colonial waterbirds. The toxicant is mixed with bread and is placed directly on gull nests. DRC-1339 is slow acting and apparently painless. Death is caused by uremic poisoning.

To find individuals trained in its use, contact the state office of USDA, APHIS, Wildlife Services at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ws/statereportindex.html).
