Ash trees are susceptible to a disease known as anthracnose. This disease can result in stunted shoots, brown lesions on leaves, and defoliation. Some of the infected leaflets may appear to be malformed. Control of anthracnose can be achieved by pruning out dead twigs and branches, and removing fallen leaves and twigs in autumn. Preventative fungicides can be used if severe disease occurrences have occurred in past years. Contact your local Extension office for fungicide recommendations.
