Last Updated: September 14, 2008

Successful gardening is largely determined by planting cultivars that are resistant to and/or tolerant of plant diseases found in your area. University of Kentucky horticulturists test vegetable cultivars every year to find which ones produce high yields of high quality produce in Kentucky. A list of tested cultivars as well as a list of Kentucky and national seed companies can be found in the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture publication ID-133, "Vegetable Cultivars for Kentucky Gardens". This publication is also available in hard copy from your Kentucky county Cooperative Extension office.
