Just because a tree or plant is listed as a dwarf variety doesn't mean that it will not grow beyond a certain size. Dwarf plants continue to grow throughout their lifetime, but they grow at a slower rate once they begin fruiting. Dwarf fruit trees require annual pruning to control size and direct tree structure.
