How much water should I apply to my lawn?

The amount of water needed for a home lawn will depend on the type of soil, type of turf being grown, time of year and how intensively the turf is being maintained. Depending on your soil type, most lawns will perform well with 1/2 to 1 inch of water at each application. When 1/3 of the lawn is showing signs of wilt, then it is time to irrigate. The frequency that irrigation is required will vary with the season and the amount of rainfall received.
