Can snow damage my lawn?

Snow cover on lawns is generally not a problem in Kentucky. However, extended snow cover can mat down tall grass, increasing foliar diseases. Most problems associated with snow on lawns are a result of plowing snow into large piles that cover the turf for extended periods. Salt applied to roadways can also be a problem when it is inadvertently applied to the turf, or washes off roads and driveways causing injury to the turf.
