White grubs are the most destructive insect pest of home lawns in Kentucky. Proper grass selection is one way of avoiding substantial damage from grubs. Tall fescue tends to tolerate grub activity much better than Kentucky bluegrass. If you have experienced substantial grub damage in past years, a preventative chemical approach may be necessary. Insecticides applied mid-June to mid-July effectively control newly hatched grubs.
