Can I seed a lawn immediately after a pre-emergent herbicide was applied?

Pre-emergent herbicides are very effective for preventing the emergence of unwanted weeds such as crabgrass. However, it is sometimes necessary to reseed an area with a desirable grass species after a pre-emergent herbicide has been applied. For best results you will need to wait for the herbicide to lose its effectiveness and then seed the area. This can take several months depending on the particular chemistry used, the rate it was applied, and the weather conditions.
