How do I control chickweed?

Last Updated: September 19, 2007

View as web page

Common chickweed is a winter annual and will die with repeated mowing and warmer spring weather. In hardiness zones 6 & 7, if chemical control is necessary, use a broadleaf-specific herbicide applied from September to early November or March to May. For more information on chemical control of chickweed and other common weeds contact your local Cooperative Extension Office.
