Is it cheaper to seed or sod my lawn?

A bag of seed is much less expensive than sod, but a simple total cost comparison can be difficult to make. A sodded lawn is immediately attractive and can be used in a short time without the risk of damaging the turf or tracking mud into the home. A seeded lawn, while less expensive initially, will almost always require chemical weed control shortly after establishment and there is an increased risk of serious erosion, especially if seeded on slopes.
