Can I kill my lawn with fertilizer?

Most fertilizers are comprised of salts and applying too much fertilizer, especially when turfgrass is stressed due to hot, dry weather, can cause serious damage to your lawn. It is important to apply fertilizers to turf foliage that is dry; water in the fertilizer immediately after application.
