The numbers on a bag of fertilizer correspond to the percentage of the nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. The most economical fertilizer is not always the least expensive per bag. 30-0-0 contains twice as much nitrogen per bag as 15-0-0. Complete fertilizers contain all of the above nutrients.
