Broadleaf weeds include dandelion, henbit, chickweed, white clover, and plantain, among others. It is important to correctly identify the weed and understand its life cycle prior to using chemical treatments. Both pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicides are available to control most broadleaf weeds.

Contact your local Extension office for herbicide recommendations. If the lawn is predominantly weeds, and chemical removal of the weeds will leave many bare patches in the lawn, a complete lawn renovation with new grass may be necessary.
