A remedy to this problem is to fill in the low spots with topsoil or construct shallow trenches that will allow water to exit the lawn area. Then you can reseed the affected area. You should also consider the source of the water. If many of the downspouts from your roof empty into the area, you may want to consider diverting the water to another area by installing below-ground drainage lines.
