In the past, the rabies vaccine has been on a plan for yearly boosters. There is now a rabies vaccine that is considered to be effective for three years. You can ask your veterinarian which vaccine he or she uses to booster your pet accordingly.
States vary in their requirements for rabies shots, for dogs and for cats. Contact your local veterinarian for the correct information. Don't assume that your pet doesn't need shots because it is an "indoor only" pet. Bats and other rabies vector species sometimes enter buildings.
