Before handling any wild animal, know the laws in your state. Many states require you to contact the state agency responsible for wild animals such as the Department of Game and Fish or the Department of Natural Resources. A good place to start is your State Veterinarian's Office. Contact information for your state veterinarian can be found on the USAHA web site.
