Please consult your local veterinarian for evaluation of rectal tissue damage from trauma and the placement of retaining sutures to keep the prolapse from recurring to enhance healing of the rectal tissue. As long as the rectal tissue is swollen with edema, she will continue to strain and prolapse, whether standing or lying down. More edema develops with each prolapse and can increase to a large size that cannot be replaced and has to be amputated.
