It is slime mold, a fungal growth that appears on grass blades during warm, humid weather. The mold can move from mulched areas onto grassy areas. Slime mold is harmless to turfgrasses.
Slime mold can be removed from mulch beds with a shovel and placed into a plastic bag for removal. You can also rake or brush the mold away. No chemical controls are recommended.
