Heating and freezing therapies may be beneficial to prevent recurrence. Removal of the eyeball and eyelids is recommended in recurring cases. Your vet may perform these procedures or refer the cow to the Land Grant University College of Veterinary Medicine for treatment. Recent research has indicated that the incidence of cancer eye may have a genetic component. Culling cows early with cancer eye can remove this genetic material from the herd.
