What are the causes of weak calf syndrome?

Weak calf syndrome has many causes. Prepartum nutrition, especially adequate levels of energy and protein are very important for future calf health and vitality. Cows that are unable to maintain their body condition will have weak calves. Mineral and vitamin deficiencies can also lead to weak calf syndrome, so proper mineral supplementation is important. Finally, there are some infectious diseases that cause weak calf syndrome. Contact a veterinarian for help in determining the cause of weak calf syndrome.
