*Azaleas grown in full sun are more prone to lace bug damage. Providing shade for the plants will discourage lace bug feeding. *Newly hatched lace bugs (spring, early summer) can be knocked off the plant with a forceful water spray to the underside of the leaves. *Natural predators can provide control in some situations. *Insecticidal soaps, when used as directed and applied to the underside of the leaves, will control lace bug damage. Contact your local Extension office for other, specific insecticide recommendations and application timing.
