What are Series HH savings bonds?

Last Updated: January 27, 2009

Series HH bonds are income securities because they provide the owner current income by paying a fixed amount of interest every six months (semi-annually). The interest is paid through an electronic fund transfer into a checking or savings account designated by the owner.

As of September 2004, the U.S. Treasury is no longer issuing HH savings bonds. Investors are no longer able to reinvest HH/H Bonds or exchange EE/E Bonds for HH Bonds.
