Common bermudagrass is the recommended choice for most areas, other than in the north. Bermudagrass is easily established and, if properly maintained, will produce excellent forage for many years. It is also a lower-growing forage and will not be as easily uprooted from the ground by cattle grazing in wet weather, as will the hybrid bermuda varieties that tend to grow more upright. It also is less expensive to establish than many of the hybrid varieties.
