Are acorns toxic to goats?

Last Updated: September 11, 2010

Goats can graze near oak trees and consume acorns without problems most of the time. The problems generally occur when animals eat a large amount of acorns at one time. Take similar precautions as with cattle grazing near oak trees. Don’t turn the animals into the area when they are “hungry” if there is a large crop on the ground. Limiting access when large amounts are on the ground also helps.
