Dystocia or difficult birthing in a cow, after previous normal deliveries, is normally related to unusual development of the fetus during pregnancy that allows an abnormal posture, position or presentation of the calf at the time of delivery. Heavy birth weight can be a cause for dystocia. Birth weight can be influenced by genetics as well as other factors.
