The soybean aphid is a relatively new pest of soybean in the United States. It is now a major pest in the north central states and is rapidly becoming a major pest in the east. Economic thresholds are being developed, as are suggested field scouting techniques. We have created a 12-minute long slide presentation with audio that provides a brief description of the soybean aphid and its biology. It also includes the economic threshold and clear instructions on how to use a new speed scouting technique for determining if your field is at threshold and needs insecticide protection. Take a look at breeze.ag.vt.edu/speedscouting.
