How do I kill spiders in my house?

Spider questions are often as much an emotional issue as they are a home pest question. It's important to remember that most spiders cannot hurt you.

In most cases, your first line of defense for spiders is a vacuum cleaner. Vacuum cleaners not only remove spiders, but also their webs and any egg cases that can perpetuate the infestation--something insecticides cannot do. Sticky traps are another way to remove some kinds of spiders. For web building spiders, insecticide products are usually ineffective unless you spray the spider directly.
