I cosigned a loan for a friend. How can I get my name off the loan agreement?

When you cosign a loan, you are agreeing to repay the loan if the person you cosigned for does not. In short, you are legally responsible for repayment, and your name cannot be removed from the loan agreement. In the future, don't cosign a loan as a favor to anyone unless you are willing to repay the loan if they do not.
