My pet cat was recently attacked by coyotes. Are coyotes more likely to return to the same area because of "easy prey"?

Yes, coyotes (Canis latrans) will be likely to return. They have large home ranges and consider free-roaming cats a food source. Keep your cats indoors if possible. Certainly they will return more frequently if hunting conditions continue to be good. Unsecured trash cans, intentional handouts, pet food left outside, and, of course, roaming pets will encourage them to frequent the area just as we would if someone was handing out free food. Dr. Robert Timm has published an article describing the progression of coyote attacks. Visit Coyote attack article to get a copy. Resources: (online) Coyotes
