Entrepreneurship generally refers to the process of planning, organizing, and operating a business. Often entrepreneurs are innovative in their approach to their business idea. Other words associated with entrepreneurship include initiative, creativity, imagination, risk, and opportunity-oriented.

Entrepreneurship is not always limited to a private enterprise. Many of the same features that apply to starting or growing a business also apply to the practice of starting or growing a civic organization and can even be employed in government activities. Entrepreneurship can be a challenging undertaking. Successful business and organizational development requires careful planning. Entrepreneurial activities are substantially different depending on the type of organization that is being started. Entrepreneurship may involve creating many jobs or employ only the business owner.
