Have a question? Try asking one of our Experts

My dog just ate a baby bunny. What kind of diseases or parasites might he get from this? Is there anything I should test him for—or see the vet—and if so, how long should I wait before it can be diagnosed?

It would be best to contact your veterinarian for this answer. You can prevent this event from happening again by leashing the dog and/or preventing rabbits from entering your property by installing an 18-inch tall fence around the perimeter. Chicken wire will work, but it will only last a few years. Be sure the fence is securely fastened to the ground to prevent rabbits from squeezing underneath it.
