What can be done about nutsedge in vegetable patches?

We tell growers to rotate out of these areas and treat with herbicides labeled for nutsedge or with a nonselective herbicide. There are very few products that will kill both purple and yellow nutsedge. Read and follow herbicide label instructions. Contact your local Extension office for specific product recommendations.
