Bolivian Sunset Gloxinia sylvatica):
Origin Bolivia and Peru; bright orange/red flowers that occur under short day conditions (October to March). A colorful houseplant or ground cover perennial in the deep South.

Grown outdoors in partial shade with plenty of water, the density of the foliage and flowers makes a spectacular show. May die down in the spring, then come back during the rainy season. This is a great fall to early winter flowering perennial. It spreads rapidly from rhizomes and forms a dense ground cover. Keep evenly moist; plant is attractive to butterflies.
