Have a question? Try asking one of our Experts

I purchased and transplanted a Dieffenbachia houseplant, and I have been letting the plant get dry. There are dead millipedes on top of the soil. When I thoroughly watered the plant, there were live millipedes crawling through the topsoil. Any suggestion for treatment and prevention?

Treat millipedes as you would any contamination of the planting medium; reduce watering, letting the soil dry out between watering. Use an insecticidal soil drench, but check the product label carefully to be certain it is cleared for use on each houseplant variety.
