Have a question? Try asking one of our Experts

I planted a Japanese wisteria early this year, and in October its leaves started to turn yellow and then brown. Now the leaves are falling off. I was wondering if this is normal? No book I've read on the subject mentions shedding leaves during the dormant season.

Wisteria is deciduous, so losing leaves in October is very normal. Wisteria is a very fast growing, tough vine. Be sure you manage it well once the plant becomes well established, or it can take over. Prune as needed after flowering in the spring.
