I plan to construct raised beds around some unused clothesline poles in hopes that the beans will climb the poles and along the wires in between. Do you think this is a practical idea?

Pole beans should climb the clothesline poles, but you can improve things by running additional strings, wires, or some other material between the ground and the "T" top of the pole to give the beans more room to spread out.
