How do I make my Easter lilies bloom at Easter?

Last Updated: January 24, 2012

View as web page

The only way to have a lily in bloom for Easter is to buy new ones from the florist each year. Easter lilies (Lilium longiforum )) are forced to bloom at Easter by commercial greenhouse growers. They do this by manipulating the light and temperature of the growing environment. Your Easter lilies planted in the ground, relying on the natural environment, will normally bloom in early to mid summer.
