My asparagus is coming up, and because of freezing temperatures, the stalks were frozen. Do I need to trim those spears or just let them die and rot away?

You can break off the previously frozen spears because the plant will grow more throughout the season. If you believe another frost will threaten new growth, you could cover the spears with coffee cans or empty pots until the danger passes.
