My cucumbers look like misshapen balloons - big on one end, pointed and tiny on the other. What is wrong?

The causes of misshapen fruit include widely varying moisture or temperature, inadequate pollination (which can also be weather related), and poor soil fertility. There is not much you can do about the temperature, but you can make sure your cucumbers get a steady, regular supply of water. You can also make sure your plants receive appropriate amounts of fertilizer throughout the growing season. Beyond that, there is not much you can do except cut off the misshapen fruit.
