Voles are destroying my yard. We've had some luck with mousetraps baited with peanut butter and oatmeal mix. I've heard getting rid of grubs would help, but I've also heard voles are unrelated to any grub infestation. What is the truth?

Moles, not voles, love grubs.

Cover your mousetraps to keep birds from being caught. Set mousetraps perpendicular to the run, with the trigger over the vole run. If you use rodenticides, always follow the label instructions (the label is the law).

Contact your local Cooperative Extension Service office for more detailed information on controls for both moles and voles.
