Have a question? Try asking one of our Experts

I just planted eight Honeygold apple trees in my yard. Do I need to plant any other types of apple trees for these trees to bear fruit? If so, what types would work best?

This recommendation is specific to Minnesota and may or may not apply to your area. More than one apple variety is needed in an orchard to ensure good fruit production. However, you may not need to plant another variety if there are crab apples (wild or ornamental) growing nearby, as is the case in many neighborhoods. Good pollinizers for Honeygold include Wealthy, Haralson, Regent, and Fireside.
