You are not alone. Not everyone had or has a "loving relationship" with parents. Some parents have been neglectful, and others abusive. Explore your reasons for taking care of your mother. Think through why you are willing to be your mother's caregiver and what you are willing to do as well as what you will not do. Explore what other resources and people may be available to help your mother so you can keep from getting overburdened or resentful. Then make a plan to take care of you. What nourishes you?
