Who is at risk of getting infected with E. coli O157:H7?

E. coli O157:H7 can affect anyone but is more likely to infect the very young (under 5 years), the elderly, and immuno-compromised patients. Those working in slaughterhouses, farms, hospitals, nursing homes, nursery schools, and food preparation locations are also at more risk due to increased exposure.
