I just recently bought two calves and am currently feeding them milk replacer. This is my first time raising young calves, so information on how much, how often, any other feeding, medicines, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Also, how long do they bottle feed?

Assuming these are Holstein calves (90 lb), feed them four quarts a day in two equal feedings of liquid milk replacer (one pound of dry powder in the gallon of water) and offer calf starter at 7 to 10 days of age. Once they are eating 2 pounds of calf starter, remove (wean) the calves from milk replacer. When the calves are eating 5 pounds of calf starter, offer hay free choice, but be sure they eat the 5 pounds of calf starter. Be sure to offer water free choice in a clean pail, which helps consumption of hay and calf starter. Calves raised in an enclosed facility must have a well-ventilated environment that is draft-free. Always be sure the calf pen is dry and well-bedded.
