I am looking for large and small breed calf water requirements in the first month. PSU (Penn State University) suggests 1.3 to 2.0 gal per day including replacer water. What about size of calf and total pounds mixed ration? Starter is often minimal at this age if on 15% and 2+ quarts.

The PSU (Penn State University) suggestion is on target. Free choice water encourages calf starter intake. We suggest you check out Jim Quiqley's Web site and refer to Calf Note No. 77 "Methods of Feeding Water." This can be found at www.calfnotes.com. Also on the same site are "Calving Ease" fact sheets by Sam Leadley and other useful information related to calf management.
